I'll confess that after reading this thread I got a little worried and just ended up bringing my car to my local Audi dealer and had them do the install. I LOVE this upgrade!! I don't think SLU_55 could have said it any better as this is a HUGE improvement in throttle response and in mid to high range torque!! I have a GMG Quad Exhaust system and while I wouldn't say there is a very noticeable difference in sound; I do notice it sounding a tad more aggressive!! Def worth the upgrade!!

Some aftermarket intakes replace the filter or airbox, but we've found that the factory throttle body hose is the biggest restriction. The airbox itself flows quite well.

The smaller 90 degree barbed fitting for the smallest hose that attaches to the inlet hose was clamped on to the new air inlet hose at the wrong angle, how do you move it at the right angle? Do i need to remove the fitting clip?......

It can be rotated by hand; no need to remove the clamp.

Well finally did it, it was a bitch to fit the small hose back. Broke of course one side of the plastic clamp(big hose) but did secure it back with some zip ties. Looking forward to try it tomorrow.

So here goes my review: nothing was really an issue for uninstalling the stock, was out in less than 2 minutes. Installing the 034 was simplified by lubing up the tight fitting parts with the excepting of that damn small hose, tighter than a virgin smh, but I used force without breaking anything, no pun intended. Post installation, didn't notice anything on revving, so I did what I did when I installed the pipercross filter, just reset the ecu, and re-learn everything. Test drove, definitely a smoother louder sound, can feel it when you touch the pedal, I feel like my air flow is even. BTW I have milltek non res downpipes, xpipe and meisterschaft exhaust. Pretty loud as is, but now smoother thru all power bands. Besides that, you can simply see the difference in sizes and how the stock has ripples plus the choke down on entry, don't mind my hands, I'm not a normal sized human

Well actual work took about 15 minutes, I took a break in between because it reached about 95 degrees in my garage lol. And motor was still hot AF. Lol. My grill is OEM rs5 grill from LLtek quite costly but I originally had the replica until the animal I hit broke it, so I upgraded thru insurance OEM, and upgraded brackets you see under it. Much more sturdy than stock. I want the rs5 bumper from LLtek, next mod perhaps.

In case anyone is interested, it does fit on a 4.2 V8 with APR supercharger. Installed it this morning. It's tight, and it's not easy, but it does fit.

Thanks for the photo! The APR SC does move the TB around a bit, so it's definitely a tighter fit without the compliance of the stock accordion hose. Glad to hear you were able to make it fit!

B8 Audi S5 4.2L FSI V8 Air Intake Hose

You squeeze on the two tabs (one tab shown below, since the customer car we used for instructions had another intake piece on it that was installed by the owner) to release the clip. Pushing down on the connection at the same time helps ensure that the clips unseat. You then pull up on the connection to remove the hose.

No special tools are needed; the connection is designed to be able to remove by hand. I've made an illustration below to help better explain the process, so I hope it helps! If we get another car in with the stock intake hose on it, I will try to take a video of it. We just don't get too many V8 S5s in the shop here lately.

I just noticed that in your pic, half the shroud we are fighting with is already broken off. Your bottom red arrow is pointing to where the other half of the shroud is supposed to be.

That thing is a PITA!

One problem I have is the factory engine cover(FSI V8) does not fit well. It kind of bumps on the air intake hose and rests on it. I have an 08 and I know audi re-designed covers for 2009+

I don't believe the engine cover required any modification on the installations we've done here. That being said, I'd try rotating the hose with both clamps loosened to see if you can get more clearance. Feel free to PM or email me installed pictures so that we can take a look.
